Wu-Tang Clan Releases First Single In Six Years
Fans can rejoice as the Wu-Tang Clan releases their first song of the 2020s.
Wu-Tang Clan releases a new single for the first time in six years titled “Claudine” featuring Method Man, Ghostface Killah, and Nicole Bus. “Claudine” is a solid Wu-Tang track as it touches on the themes of love, loss, and heartbreak.
This new single marks a milestone for the group, aligning with the 50th anniversary of hip-hop and alluding to the upcoming 30th anniversary of their groundbreaking debut album, ‘Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers).’ This year has been extremely time consuming for the group as they’ve been traveling all around the world touring in throughout various countries.
“Claudine” was produced by Wu-Tang’s longtime DJ collaborator Mathematics. He describes the sentiments behind the song by expressing that, “Claudine was made as a dedication to my mother as well as an ode to all mothers, wives and young women, reflecting their struggle, strength, courage, and love.”
The song pays homage to the 1974 blaxploitation film featuring Diahann Carroll and James Earl Jones. This song mirrors the film’s themes, exploring the complexities of companionship and parenthood, beautifully echoed in the song’s poignant lyrics.
Each artist brings their own talent to the track, which is what has made the Wu-Tang Clan such an iconic group for so long. Method Man provides a razor-sharp verse quipping on the ebbs and flows of love before Ghostface Killah delivers a stirring tribute to his late mother. While Nicole Bus is not a member of the Wu-Tang Clan, she brings an added layer of depth and emotion to the track to illustrate the intricate facets of love.
The group is currently wrapping up the North American leg of the N.Y. State of Mind Tour, with Nas and De La Soul. As the group prepares something special for their 30th anniversary, you can stream their latest track “Claudine” on all platforms now.
