This high-speed motor enthusiast game immerses players in thrilling races through the scenic roads of Oahu, Hawaii. Stahli’s contribution of 24 out of 28 tracks in the game’s soundtrack draws inspiration from the classic 80s video game sound, aligning perfectly with the high-intensity gameplay.

Stahli shares, “I got the gig scoring a AAA game by accident. I had never done score work before, and when I got the opportunity to show how I would approach the project, it was really just me doing an experiment to see if it was even possible to write music to picture in my unconventional DAW using some third party plugin to run video. When I got the call that Ubisoft wanted to hire me to compose music for The Crew: Motorfest, my two immediate thoughts were “Awesome, this little experiment must have worked” and then “Now, how the hell do you score a video game?”

When first coming onto the scene, Blue Stahli used tracker programs like Scream Tracker and Impulse Tracker, to create his work. These trackers have a long legacy with 80s and 90s video game soundtrack creation. Today he uses a modern tracker, Renoise, as his primary platform for crafting electronic rock, bass music, French electro, and video game scores. His expertise in this production style has landed him a Grammy nomination for his soundtrack for The Crew: Motorfest for “Best Score Soundtrack for Video Games and Other Interactive Media”.

Stahli’s extensive discography consisting of 11 studio albums takes listeners on a sonic journey that spans from ambient to heavy metal electronica. Through his unconventional production process, he fuses fragmented guitars, bass synths, electro beats, and infectious vocal hooks to form his unique musical identity. His sound pulls inspiration from cyberpunk movies from the 90s, such as Hackers, Johnny Mnemonic, and Bubblegum Crisis.

My introduction to the scene was first influenced by trap music, but my discography has since expanded to touch a bit of everything. Some of my favorite artists are Zeds Dead, Cloonee, Nghtmre, Flume, Infekt, Sosa, Bleu Clair, Subtronics, but the list goes on forever.
