Did Patrick Topping Inspire Haircut Trend In the UK Rave Community?
If there’s one thing most Male Ravers in The UK scene have in common, it’s Patrick Topping’s haircut.
Word on the street has it that Patrick Topping is responsible for the ongoing skin fade haircut trend in the UK rave community. If you know, you know. Aside from his electrifying tunes and exquisite mixing skills, fans of the renowned DJ and producer also idolize him for his impeccable sense of style.
While Patrick Topping’s haircut trend is primarily common in the UK and in other certain parts of Europe, those who don’t reside in that part of the world are still aware of this hairstyle phenomenon. When out clubbing or at a music festival, it’s easy to point out when there’s a UK-based bruv in the crowd because most likely, they will have the same exact haircut as the Newcastle-born musician.
Patrick Topping has rocked this trendy haircut of his for years now, and it looks like there’s no sign of him switching it up anytime soon. In 2019, he discovered “Newcastle’s celebrity barber” Jamie Copeland after meeting someone who had gotten a haircut from him. Since then, the rest has been history.
The Trick Label owner is so attached to Jamie’s unparalleled hair-cutting skills that in 2021, he added him to his Creamfields guest list and offered to pay for his travel expenses just so he could look fresh during his performance. Of course, Jamie took on the opportunity and had a blast all weekend long alongside one of his favorite clients who just so happens to be one of the hottest DJs in the world.
Since then, there’s been a massive wave of lads across England and the rest of the UK following the esteemed DJ’s one-of-a-kind haircut trend. So much so, that there are numerous viral memes, photos, and videos on the internet ridiculing how prevalent this specific haircut is in UK rave culture.
Otherwise known as the “toad” or “Hobbit” haircut among many other nicknames, not everyone is able to pull a skin fade haircut of this unique caliber off like Patrick Topping can. But there’s no doubt the affluent producer isn’t flattered by this movement that he most likely inspired.
A few weeks ago, X user @CartzT30 shared a photo of him and his friends enjoying a club night in Ibiza. The photo immediately rocked the internet because many found it to mimic that viral 2019 meme of the “four lads in jeans,” except this time, it hilariously depicted the stereotype of UK ravers’ style nowadays. The guy on the right in particular was a sensation throughout the comments because of his ridiculous haircut, which appears to be a knock-off “mushroom” version of Patrick Topping’s fade.
It’s safe to say that Patrick Topping’s magnetic house beats go hand in hand with his sensational sense of style. He’s managed to inspire an entire community of fellow house heads to follow his lead when it comes to appearance, and that in itself speaks volumes. Trends come and go, but by the looks of it, the “Patrick Topping haircut” is here to stay.
