Comedian Trevor Wallace Opens The Chainsmokers Red Rocks Show with Hilarious Stand-Up Routine
comedian and internet celebrity, trevor wallace, surprise Chainsmoker fans with an opening comedy set
Headlining DJs usually have opening sets for their shows, but when The Chainsmokers showed up at the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado, they decided to switch things up a little. Instead of the standard openers, they decided to have comedian, Trevor Wallace, come out and work the crowd with his witty and sarcastic jokes. Wallace’s jokes ranged from teasing the Denver crowd for their love of Subarus, to even taking a jab at The Chainsmokers, questioning “why did [the crowd] go to a Chainsmokers concert” if they wanted to have a good time. The crowd seemed to love the jabs and were great sports about the comedian’s jokes.
Trevor Wallace has been featured on Comedy Central, MTV, Barstools Sports, Buzzfeed, and Complex to name a few, but he originally found success through creating viral videos and comedy skits on social media. In fact, Wallace has even featured The Chainsmokers in a sketch that he did earlier this year coming out as the “third Chainsmoker”. He also co-hosts the Stiff Socks podcast with fellow comedian Michael Blaustein.
The Chainsmokers are an EDM DJ and production duo consisting of Alex Pall and Drew Taggart. They started out by releasing remixes of songs by indie artists and achieved a breakthrough with their 2014 song “#Selfie”, which became a top-twenty single in several countries. They’ve won a Grammy award, two American Music Awards, seven Billboard Music Awards, and nine iHeartRadio Music Awards.
They have also collaborated with artists such as Halsey, Coldplay, Daya, Illenium, and Nicky Jam. Since then, they have taken a brief hiatus from releasing music, but have recently begun to be more active with not only releasing music but also teasing fans with a new show called “The Party Never Ends.”
The Party Never Ends is the name of their new live show experience series, which kicked off in Los Angeles on August 19, 2023. The series features an incredible lineup of world-class electronic music talent such as Two Friends, ARMNHMR, and more. The Chainsmokers said that they wanted to create a “day-long celebration of inclusivity, collaboration and just plain f–ing fun,” for their fans. The specific locations that the Chainsmokers will stop at are still being released, but their next expected show will be in the San Francisco Bay Area.
The Red Rocks show was sold out with fans flocking to have a chance to see The Chainsmokers, again. It followed previous shows with a mix of great DJs, internet personalities, and, of course, great energy. Wallace said that it was an honor opening for The Chainsmokers.
