Elohim Cancels Tour to Start Recovery from Prescription Drug Abuse

All things are on pause as Elohim cancels tour to recover from her recent drug addiction.

Elohim cancels her tour following the announcement that she will be receiving help for a prescription drug addiction that has developed while on the road. In a post to social media, she states how this is the “hardest decision I have ever had to make in my career” before continuing to explain what’s been transpiring in her life.

“The feelings of anxiety and depression don’t show up on a calendar,” she writes before saying she started to feel these things “4 weeks ago” as “a wave that quite frankly was more severe than I have ever experienced.” The first week of the tour, she started taking a “prescribed medication to help me ‘get through it'”.

She describes that this “getting through it” feeling caused her to not be able to eat, not be bedridden, and “overwhelmed with nausea and vomiting”, so she could get on stage which is where she “feels the most alive and happy.” After a week she stated how she doubled the dosage and by the third week was taking “5x the prescribed dose.”

Finishing up her statement, Elohim thanked her two friends Chase and Shayla who were the change in her current behavior and were able to step in to bring up the issue at hand. Thousands of comments across her social media from peers like Griz, REZZ, and Big Gigantic, as well as fans, all commented to show their support in her decision to take this time and heal.

This isn’t the first time an artist this year has spoken about their anxiety while touring, as Diplo stated earlier this year how “lonely” touring can be. It’s very inspiring and brave when an artist comes forward about their mental health issues because there is a possibility of garnering negative criticism.

Exron Music would like to extend our thoughts and good vibes out to Elohim as she begins this important journey to recovering safely.
