Bassnectar Announces 2-Day Halloween Show but Cancels Shortly After

Bassnectar’s 2-day Halloween Show Freakstyle was canceled shortly after it was announced due to people protesting for it to be shut down.

Bassnectar announced Freakstyle to occur on October 27-28 in Asheville, North Carolina, at the Harrah’s Cherokee Center in hopes of bringing back his Bassnectar Project in peace after a three-year hiatus following his allegations – but it was not successful. People campaigned and protested to have his event canceled almost immediately after hearing about it as many believe he should not be continuing his career as a DJ.

In a statement on Instagram, Bassnectar confronted the cancelation and said: “Our FREAKSTYLE event in Asheville has been postponed. The city of Asheville was targeted by a campaign of hostility, intimidation, and preposterous lies.” He insisted that it would just be postponed for now.

Bassnectar has a show scheduled in Las Vegas at Mandalay Bay’s Daylight Beach Club on October 6 for an event called Wildstyle that is still set in stone for now. He added in the statement: “Our WILDSTYLE event in Las Vegas IS ON!!! The Cancel Culture mob tried to cancel us in Las Vegas – and they failed.”

The Harrah’s Cherokee Center released a statement after the protests confirming that it would be canceled. The statement said: “The Bassnectar: FreakStyle event scheduled for October 27-28, 2023, has been canceled. As a publicly-owned entertainment venue, we cannot deny access to the venue’s rental spaces to event performers, groups, or conventions based solely on the content of the event and/or performer. We value the support of our community members and fans, and we work diligently to review our booking policies and procedures.”

Many people responded to a post of the statement on Twitter agreeing with the cancelation. They said: “Nice would love to see this continue to happen,” “Do Vegas next…,” and “Don’t you just love it when we can all agree on something for once.”

Bassnectar is persistent in trying to come back from cancel culture and will not give up on his comeback. He added in his statement that: “Cancel Culture does not care about the truth. It’s a modern form of domestic terrorism, where disturbed individuals incite chaos through lies, hostility, and intimidation… We have the right to thrive. It is our mission to bring healing and radiate positive energy all across the country. We will not back down.”
