Anyma Follows Debut Album with Flip of Portugal. The Man’s “Time’s A Fantasy”
Anyma has taken “Time’s a Fantasy” by Portugal. The Man into the tech house scene with a sped-up remix of the original with layered electronic elements.
In June, the Portugal. The Man released their ninth album, ‘Chris Black Changed My Life,’ as an ode to their departed friend, Chris Black. Since its release, the Portland-based indie-rock band has recruited Chris Lake and Chrome Sparks for their takes on “Dummy,” allowing electronic producers to venture into different genres. Now, Anyma is putting his own spin on the album’s seventh song, “Time’s a Fantasy.”
Anyma catapults the listeners into energetic synths as soon as it begins with Jeff Bhasker’s vocals. The remix turns the original, a slower song with a beautiful piano and vocal harmonizations, into a house track. Slowed-down synths chime in the background as the beat progresses, capturing the somber tone of the original.
Matteo Milleri created Anyma, a multi-disciplinary art project, where he blends electronic music with entrancing AI visuals for live performances. So far, the project has taken the scene by storm with the musician’s intriguing music accompanied by mind-blowing cinematic production.
Anyma’s newest remix of “Time’s A Fantasy” was released shortly after the DJ’s debut album, ‘GENESYS.’ Anyma brings his melodic beats into an alternative space, seamlessly adding his vision to the song. The artist’s unique style has changed dance music, all while Portugal. The Man has been taking on the rock scene.
Portugal. The Man is currently on tour and hitting different places in the United States and Canada. Having played over 1,600 shows since their debut, they have proven themselves to be an impactful group in the music industry. ‘Chris Black Changed My Life’ is an important part of their career and their willingness to bring EDM into their creation has been amazing to watch.
