Billy McFarland Announces Ticket Sales for Fyre Festival II After Release From Prison
After serving four years in prison for the organization of FYRE Festival, Billy McFarland is back and preparing for FYRE Festival II.
On Monday, Billy McFarland officially green lit FYRE Festival II announcing the first round of pre-sale tickets were available for purchase. Despite his reckless track record, the first 100 presale tickets for FYRE Festival II sold out in 24 hours.
The first tier of pre-sale tickets for the event was priced at $499 each and has now been completely sold out, despite a lack of substantial information regarding the event’s location, lineup, or accommodations. In an Instagram video unveiling the event’s return, he reflects, “It all began during a 7-month stretch in solitary confinement. I penned this comprehensive 50-page plan detailing how I could capitalize on the widespread curiosity and demand for FYRE. I sought to utilize my skill in bringing people together from around the world to accomplish the seemingly impossible.”
“We spoke to people as far away as the Middle East and South America. Ultimately, we decided that Fyre Festival II was coming back to The Caribbean,” he continues and promises his company will host “pop ups and events around the world” ahead of the festival. There are several more tiers of tickets to be released, with the next batch priced at $799 to an astounding $7,999 a piece.
While McFarland has gained freedom from prison, he is certainly not free of debt. In the multiple lawsuits he faced for FYRE Festival, he was ordered to pay $26 million dollars in restitution. Recognizing the concern that ticket sales might be misused prior to the event, he is offering reassurance that it will not repeat of last time.
On Tuesday, he shared a written statement on X stating, “This time we have incredible support. I’ll be doing what I love while working with the best logistical and infrastructure partners. In addition, all ticket sale revenue will be held in escrow until the final date is announced.
With virtually no details aside from December 6, 2024 date and this mystery event to be held somewhere back in the Caribbean, it’s hard to believe this second go-around will come to fruition. Especially when The Bahamas Tourism Ministry said last year the government “will not endorse or approve any event” on the islands “associated with” McFarland.
Amidst skepticism and uncertainty, Billy McFarland’s attempt to resurrect FYRE Festival faces both anticipation and doubts as we wait for new announcements.
