Kid Cudi Reveals ‘INSANO’ Cover Art by KAWS
Kid Cudi has announced that pre-orders for his highly-anticipated ninth album, ‘INSANO,’ are available now, along with releasing four variations of the album’s cover art.
Kid Cudi is known for his wide range of skills, from producing music to directing and acting. His passion for every art form shines as he continues his career and moves towards the drop of his next record, ‘INSANO.’ KAWS and Kid Cudi have teamed up to create four covers for the hip-hop album, translating Kid Cudi’s sound into visual art.
The four art pieces were created by artist, KAWS, known for his iconic characters and graffiti style. The official album art, titled “IT TAKES WHAT IT NEEDS,” is an abstract series of multicolored shapes in the background with black sketches on top. Another includes a teal character with magenta, curly hair, and more contrasting colors. Both covers can easily be tied to KAWS with its distinct colorscape and use of shapes.
The next two pieces include Kid Cudi layered behind KAWS’ colorful, triangular shapes. Finally, the musician is at the forefront of the last cover in sunglasses highlighted by pink and red lights. All four of variations follow Cudi’s color choice for ‘INSANO’s lead single, “PORSCHE TOPLESS,” and his last full-length project, ‘Entergalactic.’
“PORSCHE TOPLESS” is fun and builds on Cudi’s latest releases with a more-upbeat vibe. Horns and synths are layered under the singer’s contagious flow, giving listeners a glimpse into what he has planned. The unveiling of KAWS’ art builds even more anticipation for ‘INSANO.’
Along with the artwork reveal and pre-orders becoming available, The Cleveland Guardians are hosting Kid Cudi Day on September 22. The Cleveland native will be recognized for the support that he has given the city during the Guardians’ game against the Baltimore Orioles. Fans have been waiting for Cudi’s return for a year, and it seems as though he is coming back strong.
‘INSANO’ will be released via Republic Records on September 15 and can be pre-saved here. While we inch closer to its release, listen to its debut single, “PORSCHE TOPLESS”:
