Britney Spears and will.i.am Hit Number 1 on Billboard Dance/Electronic Chart for New Single “Mind Your Business”
Britney Spears and will.i.am released ‘Mind Your Business,’ a new single that debuted as #1 on Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales chart.
Icons of the early 2000s are reclaiming their space in dance music. On July 21, will.i.am and Britney Spears revealed their new single “Mind Your Business,” and of course, it blew up. Debuting at #1 on Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales chart, this song is a symbol of nostalgia and the duo’s long-awaited reunion.
Both household names in their own right, it’s no surprise that will.i.am and Britney Spears’ “Mind Your Business” immediately topped the charts. Out now on Epic Records, the track boasts a high-energy house beat and distinctive vocals from the two artists who are known and loved by generations of pop music listeners.
In January 2013, will.i.am and Britney Spears’ triple-platinum classic hit, “Scream & Shout” was the inaugural #1 hit on Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Digital Sales chart, and they’ve taken it over again. Best known for his lead vocals in The Black Eyed Peas, will.i.am collaborating with the multi-platinum GRAMMY Award-winning Britney Spears is legendary is every decade. However, there is question on social media as to whether he is genuinely supporting her or using her tumultuous storyline as bait for listeners.
One fan on Instagram commented, “Stay away from her. We don’t want new music. We want her to heal. We want genuine people surrounding Britney, ones who are not interested in continuing the exploitation that has taken place over the last 15 years.” Whereas, another commented, “Everybody can say, stay away. But she said yes to this.”
On top of “Mind Your Business,” will.i.am is on a roll this year. His 2023 single ‘The Formula” featuring Lil Wayne was coupled with the announcement of his partnership with Formula 1. As the prestigious motor racing competition brand’s first-ever Global Artist in Residence, will.i.am has hinted at releasing more F1-inspired tracks in the future. All a part of his comeback, will.i.am has created quite a buzz with “Mind Your Business” and “The Formula.” Both of the tracks will be included in the rapper’s fifth solo studio album, which will be his first full-length album in over a decade. Pushing boundaries with his superstar-featured songs, will.i.am is strategically setting himself up for upcoming releases.
As of recently, will.i.am has been emerging in the dance music scene with electronic-forward tracks. Featured on Steve Aoki’s 2020 track “Love You More” and Jengi’s 2023 “Bel Mercy (El Jefe),” it would be no surprise if his future releases continue to take over Billboard’s Dance/Electronic charts.
