Shambhala Attendees Share Photos of Camping Conditions
Shambhala attendees are taking to social media to express their concerns over the luxury camping they paid for and what they received.
The festival offers a variety of glamping packages called Shambhalodging that range from $700 to over $2,000. The Glamping promised, “…the perfect blend of space and comfort.” In one photo, the tents do not match the pictures on their website and are collapsed, giving campers less room.
Another selling point of Glamping was having space between other campers, which does not translate to attendees’ photos of the site. When told that the campgrounds were full, attendees began setting up alternative spaces around the festival. Speculation around Shambhala overselling began on top of the undelivered luxury camping.
Users on Instagram also noted that there was no water in Sunshine Camping for the majority of the day. The EDM community began comparing the experience to the disastrous Fyre Fest. Veterans conveyed their disappointment at the conditions, explaining that they did not expect this from Shambhala.
Reddit users shared their experiences from years prior, noting that, “The biggest problems with Shambhala occur during entrance and exit. Everything in between is out of this f******g world incredible, but the arrival and departure logistics are an absolute nightmare that deserves to be criticized.”
Shambhala is one of the largest electronic music festivals in Canada with over 200 artists and six stages. This year’s installment began the morning of July 21 when campers were allowed onto the campgrounds. With 21 years under their belt, it is warranted for attendees to condemn the festival for the conditions they were given.
It is continuing through the weekend and will end on July 24. With the festival yet to be concluded, we are hopeful that the rest of the experience will be filled with good vibes.
