Fans React to Bassnectar’s Official Return to Music with New Album Release
Bassnectar’s back… or is he?
Bassnectar continues to rattle chains, haunting the catacombs of our minds and hearts as a once beloved but now banished bad boy. Although his latest project “The Other Side” has yet to gain true traction, his unofficial Reddit page teems with activity. The Reddit forum is a wonderful place for fans to debate Bassnectar’s return, congregate in sorrow, wallow in the emptiness of his absence, and commiserate as a community, howling into the cold, dark, lonely night…
When scrolling through the Reddit page, the commentary expressed the full spectrum, all stages, of grief. “I spent a long time after the accusations holding onto… hope that he could come back… After (1) the silence went on so long, (2) The Other Side turned out to feel like a scam, and (3) he started his new album with a tone-deaf title (The Golden Rule), I really started giving up.” Fan account purple_hoodie continued with, “Now with his whole long self-pity-filled message to fans from May, I feel like it all sadly turned out to be true…”
Another fan account, articulate user u/fractalskiesahead, vocalized a more well-rounded multifarious approach. “On a deeply personal level, as both a victim of sexual abuse myself and having family members who have suffered similarly, I approach these allegations with a heavy heart. When the allegations surfaced, the shock was such that I found myself unable to listen to the music for over two years. Yet over time, I found myself gravitating back towards the music…”
After sharing this vulnerable sentiment, u/fractalskiesahead continued, “I personally don’t take issue with {The Other Side]. In fact, I believe it’s a smart decision made by his team, a strategic move considering the circumstances.” The fan tiptoed, not in her Jordans, but into no man’s land with the following pontification: “As it pertains to the allegations against Lorin, I’ve opted for cautious skepticism. We’ve only been presented with a portion of the story, primarily from one side. The audio evidence is limited and lacks… context. The involvement of DB Montana in these allegations further muddies the waters.”
Further stirring the pot, the user transcribed, “Lorin has claimed his innocence and, thus far, no criminal charges have been filed against him. It’s critical we respect his right to defend himself and avoid dismissing his side of the story prematurely. For me, the outcome of the court case holds the most relevance, rather than speculation or the perspectives of those who might not fully understand the situation.”
No matter your sentiment, your delusion, your tears, or your bereavement, one thing is for sure: if “The Other Side” was the comeback, were still waiting for the comeback.
