Dance Music Community Reacts to New Threads Social Media Platform
Meta’s new social media platform, Threads, invites everyone–including your favorite DJs–to connect on a more collaborative and vocal level but similar to Instagram.
Craving the Twitter chatter but Instagram look and feel? Introducing Threads: the free, text-based conversation app introduced by Meta that has quickly got the reputation of a Twitter dupe. Some believe it may be better than the original. I mean, where else can you get something so good with zero ads?
The EDM community has been waiting for this day, apparently. On Threads day one, bass DJ A Hundred Drums posted (or is it threaded?), “We’ve all been asking for a new platform like the bird. So here we are! Lol. Looking forward to seeing how this unfolds.”
Threads imports users directly from Instagram, so finding EDM DJs should be simple. Many IG users have already made the Threads migration, so chances are your favorite DJ has already made their first post.
Deadmau5, who gave up his tweeting privileges to his team years ago, has already started chatter on his Threads page (and already deleted all of those posts), but his replies tell enough of the story. It seems like deadmau5 wasn’t happy about something. See below:
On everyone’s first Thread: Boombox Cartel took the opportunity to make a joke; they posted, “is this the zuck & elon cage match they were talking about? round one?” Dr. Fresch said, “welcome to the instagram back pages.” While Sippy took the wholesome approach and posted, “Threads – a thread.”
John Summit said exactly what we might expect him to say for his first Thread, “i’m drunk and i’m high and i’m tweeting on instagram.” It sounds like these DJs might be on Threads to stay and leave Twitter in the dust. Slander also made a joke with a play on their lyrics about the social media break up, “Twitter rn: I’m sorry..Don’t leave me..”
Will you be joining your favorite DJs on threads?
