Splice Launches Discord Channel With MNDR to Promote Genre-Inclusivity in Music Industry
MNDR is launching ‘Diamond,’ a discord channel on Splice with the promise of supporting gender inclusivity in music.
Since its creation, Splice has promoted allowing musicians the ability to create as they would like. It gives everyone access to licensed samples, plugins, and DAWs through a rent-to-own program. The company is also giving creators opportunities to ask questions, attend in-depth sessions, and collaborate with other artists.
Despite the impact that women and non-binary individuals have had in music, their representation often falls short. MNDR is launching a discord channel with the company, promising to give space to under-represented genders in the industry. She has been creating music for the entirety of her life and pushing for inclusivity since 2006.
“Our vision is to help foster a community of aspiring artists, producers, songwriters, and their allies, to create a new online culture where creatives can connect, share tips, and build connections. There’s a lot of people out there who want more access to the community, and I’m excited to build new space for the underserved creative,” MNDR said about the channel.
The longtime producer is giving feedback to artists, answering questions, and fostering an environment that encourages creativity. She has experience with songwriting, producing, recording, and more.
Education leader, Chrissy Tignor, commented on her experience as a woman in music production and engineering and the lack of space for people who are not men. She said, “We wanted to create a fun and encouraging space where music creators of gender minorities can see themselves represented, get inspired, share knowledge, learn new skills, and feel safe to ask lots of questions.”
Singer-songwriter Bonnie McKee is joining MNDR for the first live stream on June 29 at 12 pm. Join the Splice server on Discord to access ‘Diamonds’ here. MNDR will host streams every Monday from 2 pm to 3 pm and Fridays from 12 pm to 1 pm.
