Ticket Companies Ditch Hidden Fees Due to Government Pressure
New all-in pricing experience mandates ticket companies to eliminate hidden fees and provide consumers with upfront prices.
Live Nation Entertainment is introducing a transparent pricing system that mandates ticket companies to eradicate hidden fees and provide ticket buyers with transparent costs upfront before finalizing their purchase. The company announced that this “all-in pricing experience” will initiate across the United States starting in September.
Coming off the backlash of ticket pricing in recent years, particularly surrounding the sale of concert tickets for high profile artists like Taylor Swift and Beyonce, many fans have argued that such hidden fees led to additional frustration and growing discontent. In addition, president Joe Biden has also highlighted the issue during his State of the Union speech earlier this year, drawing attention to the problem on a national level.
He acknowledged that this practice reflects widespread concern among consumers and sheds light on the need for reform and increased accountability. He remarked that “we can stop service fees on tickets to concerts and sporting events, and make companies disclose all the fees upfront.”
In their official announcement, Live Nation Entertainment president , Tom See assures that the new system will “provide fans with a ticket buying experience” and that they are committed to “help artists share their music live with fans so they will continue advocating for innovations and reforms that protect that amazing connection.”
With the new pricing system, Ticketmaster hopes to provide greater clarity by revealing the true cost of a ticket upfront and empowering ticket buyers to make informed decisions. In turn, consumers will hopefully be granted a greater sense of control and enhance their overall experience of enjoying music and supporting their favorite artists.
