Bassnectar Opens Up to Fans After Nearly Three Years of Silence

Bassnectar shared his first in-depth message about his disappearance to fans since he went silent almost three years ago.

The bass artist released the message on his paid members-only site which was then leaked on Reddit. Bassnectar went right into it that he misses everyone very much and has been experiencing deep pain that he still isn’t ready to talk about. Along with confessing he can feel the pain from his loyal fans as well.

Bassnectar admitted that he has been sorrowed by the mass hate and negativity that has been directed towards him which was on a scale he has never felt. He explained he never expected to live a life away from his Bassnectar Project and has felt discombobulated.

There were plans to focus away from the entire music industry to work on philosophy/engagement book clubs and interactive events which also got put on hold for Bassnectar, he explained. Shortly after, he said he experienced the “most surreal, most unimaginable, most unrealistic onslaught of hatred, cruelty, rage, disinformation, and mass hysteria overwhelmed” of his life.

Bassnectar had allegations of sex trafficking and possessing child pornography, among other charges, filed against him that were brought to light in April of 2021 by two of his alleged victims. He has denied all of the accusations and asked for a jury trial.

In the message, the bass artist insisted that if you know him, you know that he is not a fighter and that he loves making peace/resolving conflict. He explained this is a part of the reason for his extreme silence and that he had no interest in engaging, retaliating, or even tolerating the nonsense. During the confusing time, he retreated to his beautiful family and lifelong friends.

In his time of silence, Bassnectar said that he found immense peace through spiritual work and growth. Although he was psychically not able to open Ableton (a digital audio workstation for Macbooks) and the word “bass” made him sick.

However, that all changed over the weekend when Bassnectar dropped a 17-track album titled The Golden Rule on his fan-paid platform ‘The Other Side’. The artist uploaded a video on Instagram previewing songs from the album.
