Afrojack Opens Up About Feeling “Lazy with Producing” Lately
Afrojack admits to feeling lazy in a pithy but vulnerable Instagram post.
Even the best have their difficult days and Dutch DJ Afrojack is living proof. Despite playing Ultra Miami for Miami Music Week and all the marked success of his career, especially as of late, Afrojack is still not feeling it. Recently he opened up on Twitter about feeling “lazy,” which naturally spurred a Socratic seminar of sorts (or as close as you can get on Twitter).
In a short post, Afrojack commented, “Even though I’m in a great position, I honestly feel like I’ve been a little lazy with producing. [I] need to do more, better… [I] can always do more [and] better.” His fans immediately showed support in the comments and some even had suggestions.”
One fan commented, “Please stick to your style and don’t hop on the techno or drum and bass bandwagon,” to which Afrojack coyly responded, “I am 100% on the techno kicks bandwagon already but, like always, [it’s] only a part [of my sets]. I will always incorporate everything I like into my sets.” Another fan furthered the commentary with, “More dirty Dutch with a techno kick.” Afrojack Tweeted back, “Basically,” confirming that his future sound will stay true to his roots.
Some fans bulldozed right past his sentiments, requesting an album, or even made ridiculous and fallacious comments such as, “It amazed me that none of the DJs took advantage of the studio time they had during the pandemic!” Pretty much every DJ in the game took advantage of the pandemic, but that’s Twitter for ya!
Despite the Twitter trolls, there were still a lot of comments showing support for Afrojack – some of them were simply too sweet. “The fans can wait – we’ll still be here,” Tweeted one fan “I’ve been listening since like 2012. [I] stopped in 2015 to join the military. I gladly bought Press Play in 2019. We’ll still be here! I’ll still be here!”
While we wait for the big man to get his groove back, check out his recent set at Ultra. Afrojack’s talent will always carry him through, no matter what he may feel beneath the surface.
