Space Jesus Shares Cryptic Instagram Post Amid Fan Backlash

And the plot thickens as American DJ Space Jesus shared a new post on Instagram, hinting at a return to the EDM world after a long hiatus due to sexual assault allegations.

While the legal battle between Jasha Tull (better known by his stage name Space Jesus) and Michaela Higgins (aka Caeli La) over sexual assault allegations against Tull may be resolved, Space Jesus’ return to the stage is still unsettled.

The newest update in this nearly 3+ years-long journey is that Space Jesus took to Instagram just five days ago to post a mysterious image of a person, ostensibly wearing a doctor’s uniform, with his brain on his chest and his face painted red. The caption reads “modus operandi realigned,” having both supporters and detractors of the dubstep DJ questioning Space Jesus’ next move.

Space Jesus Instagram Allegations

Fans and skeptics immediately took to the comments, with some users showing uncertainty: @karawtay_ wrote, “Okay did this man actually do it? Or was [sic] there just accusations? Cause now I’m REALLY confused…”

Others echoed this user’s confusion and multiple conflicting and harsh explanations were given. @pakt444 responded, “they were always just accusations misled to be the truth. The writing was on the wall. Bitter broken women trying to take down greater men then [sic] them for relevance. You don’t get to go along for the ride by choice then cry abuse when you’re no longer on board.”

Meanwhile, @pbody_27 replied, “He’s a well known d**k, but his parents paid the chick to drop the charges lol.” Space Jesus himself got involved in a few threads, responding to one adversary who commented, “You could rebrand as ‘Chodus Operandi’” with: “true dat trudat.. I have a better idea.. you unfollow me 4evr <3.”

Space Jesus Instagram Allegations

The comments (and Space Jesus’ response) bring up an interesting point about the creation of a social media community in which the majority of users will unequivocally (and sometimes blindly) support and believe their star’s every word and move. The rest of the comments reflect this, with the majority writing that they missed Space Jesus and asking him to come to their particular city to play.

This post is the first of 2023, with Space Jesus’ last Instagram upload on December 14, 2022 showing photos of his set in Austin that November–which didn’t go quite as smoothly as perhaps an artist would hope for their return to live. Between venue cancellations and last-minute decisions to play, Space Jesus’ first live show in years proved that these allegations will continue to impact his career.

Regardless of personal opinions on what truly occurred between Tull and Higgins, this instance is yet another example of the influence that power, control, and fame–taken to extreme levels–have within the EDM community (and the music community as a whole). For better or for worse, the accusations have affected both parties’ lives–making it something not to make assumptions about or to be taken lightly.
