Ravenscoon Debuts on SSKWAN with Bass-Heavy Translucent EP

Ravenscoon’s rising talent is transparent on his new melodic bass-inspired EP ‘Translucent.’

Listening to ‘Translucent,’ the new EP by Paul Conversano (better known by his stage name ‘Ravenscoon’), is as much a visual experience as an auditory one. Ravenscoon’s use of fluid production techniques, psychedelic beats, and overall unique genre-bending style makes for a full sensory experience unlike anything heard before.

The four-track EP has a heavy downtempo influence, shying away from Ravenscoon’s trademark bass-heavy sound and showcasing the producer’s unique artistic versatility. ‘Free’ featuring iSorin, ‘Translucent,’ ‘Entropy,’ and ‘Outskirts’ use elements of garage, wave, and more to tell a cohesive story through subtle harmonies and melodic beat drops.

“‘Translucent’ is my take on some of my favorite melodic bass music – wave, hard wave, future garage, and downtempo,” Ravenscoon explained. “I’m currently in the midst of writing my debut album and I found myself with a handful of beautiful tracks that just didn’t quite have a place. I revamped them, rearranged them, and livened them up to be a cohesive wave-esque EP that provides a refreshing relief to my previous dubstep EP ‘Collide’ that dropped in December on WAKAAN.”

This genre-defying attitude is perhaps what Ravenscoon is slowly by surely becoming best known for. No stone goes unturned: From death metal to trance, punk rock to dubstep, hip hop to drum & bass, Ravenscoon is able to stir, combine, and create a new brand of experimental bass music all his own.

Ravenscoon Translucent EP

While ‘Translucent’ is Ravenscoon’s debut SSKWAN EP, the San Francisco-based DJ is no stranger to success. In 2022 alone, Ravenscoon released three separate WAKAAN EPs and two individual singles–and his up-and-coming star power didn’t just stop behind the scenes.

Instead, Ravenscoon found himself on stage at some of the biggest EDM festivals including Sonic Bloom, Summer Camp, WAKAAN Music Festival, Hulaween, and more. And his momentum is only increasing: With sets already slated for this year’s Sol Fest, Sunset Music Festival, and Beyond Wonderland at the Gorge, Ravenscoon is a man on a mission and a star on the rise.
