Porter Robinson Cancels FriendShip Performance After Testing Positive for Covid
FRIENDSHIP has officially wrapped its third year hosting a slew of electronic music artist performances in partnership with Norwegian cruise lines.
For its third year, FRIENDSHIP has successfully hosted a series of electronic music artist performances in collaboration with Norwegian Cruise Lines. The event, produced and curated by All My Friends (AMFAMFAMF) and Gary Richards, aka DJ/producer DESTRUCTO, took place from February 27 to March 3, with ravers boarding the cruise ship in Miami, FL, and sailing to a private island.
Uniquely, festivalgoers had no idea what the lineup would be until people checked into their cabins and received their flyers. According to DESTRUCTO, “The line up is complete and everyone will be blown away with the artists joining FriendShip 2023. I made sure to get artists who love to DJ at all hours of the morning, noon, and night. All of our favorite dance music genres will be represented. House, Bass, Dubstep, DnB, Disco, Afro House, Hip Hop, Techno etc. We picked brand new artists that you will discover, tons of your favorite tried and true’s, and some OG legends.”
However, unfortunately, there was one legend who couldn’t join the party. Due to COVID, Porter Robinson had to bow out of this year’s festivities in order to keep the public safe. Wishing Porter a speedy recovery in time for the start of the Asia leg of his Nurture Tour.
Though in Porter’s absence, FRIENDSHIP pulled off another incredible year with artist including Justin Martin, Wax Motif, Troyboi, Dr. Fresch, Boys Noize, Kumarion, Liquid Stranger and more. As the ship made its way back to port, DESTRUCTO shared some closing remarks on the memorable experience.
“Every time we FriendShip, this family brings their A-game. So many creative people all coming together to create this amazing floating paradise for a few days. I am so honored to host and organize for everyone and keep the party rocking. I just want to say thank you to this amazing community for all the love and support over the years. The biggest joy I get from producing FriendShip is seeing the smile on everyone’s face at the end of our journey.”
