Redrum Teases New EP with 2010 Dubstep-Inspired Lead Single “Colors”
WAKAAN artist Redrum releases her dope new single, a hot track from her forthcoming EP.
Redrum, a Portland-based female DJ signed to Liquid Stranger’s WAKAAN label, just released her single ‘Colors,’ a sample from her forthcoming EP. The EP, titled ‘Butterfly Effect,’ will be released later this year and it will feature a deep bass, downtempo sound. Redrum will also tour this year, playing support for Rezz at both Red Rocks and Sonic Bloom Festival.
In 2022, Redrum toured with Liquid Stranger for his Balance National Tour, while also playing support spots for G Jones. She performed at music festivals such as Forbidden Kingdom, Homebase, Kosmic Kingdom, and Frekfest.
When speaking on her inspiration for the track, Redrum threw it back, demonstrating her love for this genre. “‘Colors’ was inspired by the deep dubstep sound from the mid-2000s [to] 2010s that got me into bass music so many years ago.
I wanted to put my spin on that style and fuse nostalgic sounds with modern production techniques.” When listening to some of her music, her sound truly lives up to the flavor she described. It’s deep and meditative, approaching some sort of precipitous edge, yet never jumping. It’s a strong addition to the WAKAAN label and follows their vibe and through-line.
Redrum, known to her family and friends as Tatiana Tindall, also has quite the story. As a kid, she mainly expressed her artistry through dance, although she always loved music. At the age of 17, Tatiana was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, a form of cancer that attacks the body’s lymphatic system, or the immune system. Tatiana eventually retired from dance due to bone damage and muscle atrophy sustained from chemotherapy.
To express her inner artist, Tatiana developed Redum – a dark, bemusing, and bewitching project and creative alias. Redrum was born out of Stephen Kin’s concept of “The Shining,” a deep and interesting homage that her growing fanbase would love to hear more about.
