Liquid Stranger Switches Gears with Emotive Downtempo ‘Unity EP’

Liquid Stranger has revealed his brand-new EP “Unity” with Wakaan’s SSKWAN music label.

The five-track EP displays a completely new sound for Liquid Stranger exploring rhythmic downtempo and a melodic delicacy. “Unity” is a major contrast to the artists’ usually heavy/wobbly bass sound. “Unity” consists of five offerings: “Free Range,” “Smoke N Hope,” “Moon Rover,” “Event Horizon,” and “Arizona.” Liquid Stranger teased Unity in December when he released “Smoke N Hope.”

Liquid Stranger hopes “Unity” will resonate with people from all areas of life even if our daily realities look different. He wants to highlight that there is an underlying energy that connects us all and there is power in togetherness. He also noted in an Instagram post he believes this type of music is healing and has power. Liquid Stranger added he has a collection of downtempo, ambient, chill, experimental, and electronica music like what’s featured on “Unity” because it’s usually what he creates behind the scenes, and believes the world needs more of it.

“Unity” compared to Liquid Strangers’ most recent 2022 EP, DIMENSIONS, is much different but is an expression of an emotionally sensitive version of the artist’s taste. Although Liquid Stranger’s music/taste is always nothing less than a “put you in your feels” vibe. “Unity” also still does feature some elements of his beloved 2015-2016 releases “Dissolve” and “Freefall.” Along with having a focus on instrumental beats while still including his signature low-end basslines in a different way.

Liquid Stranger has been on the move lately as he headlined Decadence Arizona and Radiance NYE along with Wakaan’s Music Festival 2022, had three sold-out nights at Mission Ballroom (totaling 12,500 tickets), and multiple Wakaan takeovers at Hulaween, Imagine Music Festival, Avant Gardner, and more.

To hear Liquid Stranger perform “Unity,” the artist’s next shows will be at EDC Mexico on February 24-26, Ultra on March 24-26, Ubbi Dubbi Festival on April 22-23, Sol Fest on May 5-7, Lightning in a Bottle on May 24-29, Bonnaroo on June 15-18, Veld on August 4 and North Coast Music Festival on September 1-3.

I remember hearing Edm for the first time and thinking I knew this type of music would change my life. The excitement, happiness, and connection it embraced really spoke to my soul early on and has always pulled me back somehow. I have a major appreciation for all genres and the art that goes behind making music. As a journalist, I also love diving into the stories/magic behind the music, artists, and festivals. You can catch me dancing to a wide range of tunes.
