Common Creation Reveals His “Best Work To Date” with Oblique Obelisk EP

Experimental multi-instrumentalist and producer Common Creation puts out his first solo package of the year, the four-track ‘Oblique Obelisk’ EP.

It’s best to strike when the iron’s still hot. To sustain the momentum of his widely successful track, “Sonic Sugar,” off the SSKWAN Compilation ‘Synergy,’ artist, engineer and producer Common Creation has just dropped a four-piece EP via WAKAAN. ‘Oblique Obelisk’ is emblematic of the multitalented artists brand, and reminds us why he is at the forefront of an experimental revolution within the electronic music space.

Psychedelic, dreamy and full of soul, this new studio release is designed to take you on a 20-minute journey to realign your spirit. Once you’re back on earth, the chances are you’ll want to hit replay immediately to chase the high once more. Common Creation’s newest release is brief and compact, yet to the point — not a second is wasted on it, which is why you want to keep going back to it.

With thumping basslines and the richness of funk decorating the ‘Oblique Obelisk’ EP, Common Creation is back to reestablish himself as a hard-hitter. What’s impressive about the new releases is that he manages to accomplish that in less than half an hour! And through it all, he’s well aware of what he’s put out into the world.

“Oblique Obelisk is my 8th body of work, and consists of what I consider to be my best music to date,” Common Creation said. “My goal with this EP was to meld organic instrumental soundscapes with neuro-based electronic production to create something that is both natural and digital; historic and futuristic. The four-track suite spans several different genres and ties them together with overarching themes and a shared sonic palette.”

Common Creation has covered a great deal of ground in his career so far, and the new EP pushes him further into unexplored territory. Yet, he manages to keep his identity intact even as he tries new things and offers fans exciting new concepts. ‘Oblique Obelisk’ encapsulates everything he represents, so be sure not to sleep on it.

Hear it from the man himself: “I believe this EP is truly the best representation of the Common Creation sound so far, and combined with the full visual project, it presents a fully immersive 30-minute journey and the next milestone for this project.”
