Skrillex Drops First Single from Second Album of 2023
Skrillex finally released the first single off his album “Don’t Get Too Close” which is available now.
On Monday, February 13th, Skrillex dropped a single from his second album of 2023. The title of the track is called “Don’t Get Too Close”, which was co-produced by Lido and features vocals from Bibi Bourelly.
The record’s production includes melodic and laid-back steel drums. This shows a distinct change from the aggressive, jungle trap beats that characterize much of his first album of the year ‘Quest for Fire’. The track gives the listener a nice soft harmony between Skrillex and Bourelly.
Additionally ‘Quest for Fire’ will feature Pete Wentz, Missy Elliott, and Swae Lee. This project marks Skrillex’s first full-length solo LP since 2014’s Recess. Since 2014, he’s been an active collaborator, working with artists like J Balvin (“In Da Getto“), Justin Bieber (“Don’t Go“), Jhay Cortez (“En Mi Cuarto“), Rick Ross, and many more.
Skrillex started this year off by releasing “Rumble” with Fred Again… and Flowdan. Additional releases include “Way Back” with PinkPantheress and Trippie Redd, and “Leave Me Like This” with Bobby Raps. All of these singles will be featured on the upcoming ‘Quest for Fire’ album set to release on Friday, Feb 17.
In other news, Skrillex, Fred again.. and Four Tet will be playing at Madison Square Garden this Saturday (Feb. 18). The MSG show will be the biggest show the trio has played to date. While the three have already played last-minute shows together at London venues such as Troxy and the Electric Ballroom, this show will be the first at a major venue or should I say, stadium.
Lastly, they have been working together on new music in New York and on Tuesday night they sold out a special Valentine’s Day pop-up show at Good Room. With all of the upcoming festivities surrounding Skrillex, his music, and his trio. It’s safe to say that this is just the beginning of a long and eventful year ahead.
