Odesza Share Emotional Backstory on ‘The Last Goodbye’ Album
Odesza member expresses the duo’s spiritually driven creative thought process in making their fourth studio album “The Last Goodbye”.
With art comes an introspective story lived through the windows of the soul. There comes a pivotal point within the creative process where the soul’s light breaks through the ego in order to align with the unconscious mind dancing in the present dimension.
The Grammy-nominated electronic music duo share a personal rant on their Instagram with the intention of Harrison sharing some behind-the-scene footage from when they were about to play their album “The Last Goodbye” for the first time. Fans below in the Instagram comments even joked around on how we can get an extended version of this rant because it is speaking directly to our souls.
Harrison Mill’s backstory on the sentimental seed that grew into “The Last Goodbye” encompasses the human experience: living, learning, and loving through the darkness. The deepest parts of the soul, in which it receives and gives love, come from the reflection of the parental figures that nurtured it.
The sentimental electronic duo started their album with two thoughts to put into intention: “If I lost my parents, like how would I feel about who I am now? Harrison further questioned “Are they still with me?” to share their creative thought process on how our parent’s impact and presence stay with us forever when we echo that out to other people. Is there really a last goodbye?
Harrison naturally brings this thought process to fruition by relating everyone’s individual experiences being lived through one another in the collective consciousness. The nostalgic producer continues to share that with this thought process, he has a better understanding of his love for community and the people around him, how he wants to affect the world, and whom he wants to affect.
“The Last Goodbye” is the fourth studio album released by the American electronic music duo Odesza, individually known as Harrison Mills and Clayton Knight. The atmospheric duo will be on tour as early as March for Okeechobee Music Festival and CRSSD Festival. More information can be found on their official website.
