Most of us know John Summit for his famous house music tracks and party boy persona. But, before he became an internationally known DJ and music producer, he lived a simpler life. He lived in Chicago, Illinois as an accountant. He worked for a regular 9 to 5 corporate job, similar to the life many of us live today. Until one day everyone’s favorite party boy was fired, but why?

In a recent Twitter response, John let us know exactly that. A fan begged the question to the music producer back on January 26th. Certainly, John Summit replied stating, “Apparently going on benders isn’t a good excuse for missing work in the corporate world.”

John Schuster, known by most as John Summit, has quickly become the most desirable name in dance music worldwide. Throughout the past few years, his name has been swarming around the industry. His admirable personality and stellar releases have resulted in an upsurge of over five million Spotify listeners. While also being the top-selling artist across all genres on Beatport back in 2021. And lastly, his track, ‘Human’, was the number one track on US Dance radios for weeks.

So, a bender may have been the reason he was fired from the corporate world. But, it gave the electronic dance music world the next biggest DJ. One can only wonder how his accounting firm feels now knowing the accountant they fired back in 2018, John Summit, is headlining some of the biggest festivals around the world! With his record label, Off the Grid, taking off and the success of John continuing to soar, accounting was truly the wrong path for this legend.

My name is Emilee Gabbard. I currently live in sunny Orange County, CA. By day I am a project manager working in the aerospace industry, but by night a music blogger for yours truly, Exron Music! I have been writing for Exron Music for around eight months now and cannot wait to see what is to come throughout the years. At festivals and clubs, you will find me at any house and techno stage supporting my favorites Eli Brown or Dom Dolla, or belting every word to Porter Robinson tracks wherever he performs.
