Bassnectar Completed “Two Full-Length Albums” and “Countless Side Projects” Despite Pending Trial
Bassnectar’s return to the music scene includes multiple albums and side projects, according to an FAQ article on his new website, unlocktheotherside.com.
A Reddit user recently shared a screenshot that appears to be taken from unlocktheotherside.com. The question–written in FAQ style–reads, “What is the ‘Golden Rule’? When is it coming out?”
The response glances over the question at hand and dives into a more overarching explanation for the new music question. It turns out, Bassnectar has much more than ‘The Golden Rule’ to show for during his hiatus. The answer reads, “Over the last several years, Lorin has been hyperactive in the studio, completing enough content for 2 full length Bassnectar albums, a new Naux Faux EP, and countless side projects.”
The site goes on to say, “Most notably, is the ZF Murda project which is pretty much a fusion of black metal and death metal influenced garage band style mayhem, and Equipoise which is, for a lack of a better word, live ambient music.”
News of the forthcoming Bassnectar album, ‘The Golden Rule’, leaked in mid-January from a private discord channel that the Bassnectar project was using to keep in touch with loyal fans. According to the screenshot, the album will drop on Valentine’s Day 2023 and feature “tons of new collaborations” and much more exclusive to “UNLOCKED members.
Now, it sounds like remaining Bassnectar fans have much more to look forward to. According to the email sent out by the artist’s team and the new website, all of his content will be exclusive to paid members of The Other Side. The membership fee costs up to $150.
All of this news leaves many ex-fans and members of the EDM community outraged. The civil suit brought forth against the DJ on grounds of sexual abuse allegations has yet to be resolved in court. Plus, some think Bassnectar should at least address the issues before abrupting coming back into the public eye. As of now, he has yet to comment publicly on the allegations since 2020.
