Simon Doty Hopes to Revive the Melodic Underground with Debut Album ‘Universal Language’
Canadian producer and DJ Simon Doty, announces his ten-track debut album by releasing his first single “Soulflow” with Anjunadeep.
Simon perfectly defines a timeless house sound in the underground scene with his melodic ambiance, stabbing chords, driving bassline, and thought-provoking lyrics. Crafted for the dancefloor, “Soulflow” is the first single released from Doty’s upcoming debut album ‘Universal Language’.
Since 2019, Simon Doty has worked with Anjunadeep to release five EPs on the label, including his ‘Hometown EP’, ‘Living Sound EP’ and most recently, his collaborative cut with Marsh called ‘Touch The Sky’, which has collectively amassed over three-million streams and support from the likes of Pete Tong, Danny Howard, Gorgon City, and Ben Malone.
The rise to fame has allowed Simon to subconsciously observe the underground scene from above the crowd. The Canadian producer and DJ personally stated: “We’re starting to lose the groove in underground dance music. This album is partly about showing people that club music can still be melodic and emotional.”
Ursula Rucker’s thought-provoking vocals in “Soulflow” rise through each piano key vibrating with every ecstatic dance move. Between the atmospheric piano and heavenly strings, the tension built in each mind-bending lyric ripples through the soul to release the unnecessary weight which our ego carries.
The album will also feature a range of collaborations including American spoken word artist Ursula Rucker, British duo My Friend, singer/songwriter Tailor, UK-based producer and vocalist Artche, British songstress Ruth Royall, and legendary American vocalist Roland Clark as well as a remix of JODA’s hit track ‘Closer’ (feat. Robyn Sherwell).
With the release of ‘Universal Language’ coming up on the 8th of April 2023, fans will have a chance to listen to a variety of musical styles from Simon’s live DJ sets, ranging from house to deep house to melodic techno starting in February. Soon enough, Simon will shine his light in North America and South America, before moving over to Europe and Asia. More information on his tour can be found on his official website.
