Fan Speculates Deja Voom Will Be Bassnectar’s First Event Back

Following what fans believe to be Bassnectar’s return to the electronic music scene, a few have inferred that his first event back will be Deja Voom.

Deja Voom is Bassnectar’s curated music festival held in Cancun, Mexico. The festival had a successful year in 2019 and was planning for another massive 2020 gathering until the pandemic forced them to cancel. Not long after, Bassnectar came under scrutiny for sexual misconduct allegations and voluntarily took a step back from the music scene. He canceled all upcoming events and ceased posting on social media. 

With the events industry taking a major loss due to the pandemic and Bassnectar nowhere in sight, there appeared to be no real future for Deja Voom or Bassnectar-curated events in general. That is, until last week when several Reddit users speculated that Bassnectar could possibly be planning another event.

One Reddit user noted that Bassnectar is only following four accounts on Instagram, one of them being Deja Voom’s profile. Within the last week, the artist actually wiped his entire Instagram, which sometimes signals a shift to come. Additionally, along with Bassnectar uploading a mix to Mixcloud and launching a secret website, rumors of an upcoming event have been running rampant beyond this Reddit thread. Supposedly, paid members of the new site will have exclusive access to Bassnectar content, which includes events. 

However, another Reddit user challenged the opinion, claiming that Bassnectar had always only been following these four Instagram accounts, including Deja Voom. Another person thinks it’s “the only logical first back.”

One fan even suggested taking precautions in case Deja Voom does get announced. They said, “apply for your passport ASAP if you don’t have one and if you do have one, check the expiration date.” 

As of now, there have been no public announcements of a Bassnectar event in the works. However, with the surprise mixtape and rumors of an album dropping on Valentine’s Day that leaked from a private Discord channel, it’s safe to say anything can happen. Bassnectar hasn’t made any public posts in nearly three years.
