Alison Wonderland Announces Whyte Fang Festival Debut at Coachella

Following an album reveal for 2023, Alison Wonderland recently announced that her side-project Whyte Fang will make a debut at Coachella.

Australian DJ/producer Alison Wonderland recently announced her plans to debut her side project, Whyte Fang, at Coachella Festival in April.  Wonderland, whose real name is Alex Sholler, has been making waves in the electronic music scene for several years. She first gained recognition in 2013 with her debut EP, ‘Calm Down,’ and rose to fame thereafter with her 2015 debut album, ‘Run.’

Since then, she has released two more albums – ‘Awake’ and ‘Loner’ – and toured extensively, performing at festivals and venues globally.  Wonderland’s unique blend of electronic and pop music, combined with her dynamic live performances, has earned her a dedicated fanbase. Her music often deals with themes of self-empowerment and self-expression, making her a favorite among fans of all ages.

While Whyte Fang’s debut may come as news, Wonderland actually created the alias over a decade ago.  From 2011 to 2014, tracks released under her alias include “Play”, “Heart”, and a cover of Nelly Furtado’s “Say It Right.” In 2021, Whyte Fang made her long-awaited return with “TIDES,” a wobbly downtempo track featuring electrifying cello chords.

In addition to her success as a recording artist, Wonderland is also known for her dynamic live performances. She frequently incorporates live instrumentation into her sets and often plays the piano, guitar, and cello on stage. This unique approach has earned her a reputation as a versatile and engaging live performer.

After the inauguration of her label FMU Records in 2022, Whyte Fang released “Transport God” to commemorate her accomplishment.  Likely in preparation for her debut, she also recently announced her plans to release music more frequently as Whyte Fang.  Though there are notable resemblances between Wonderland and Whyte Fang’s music, her alias evokes a more piercing and sinister feel. Last week, she released the fourth single from her upcoming Whyte Fang LP titled “transport god” ahead of the highly-anticipated album release in March.

This side project will allow Wonderland to diversify her expression across genres and reach a wider musical audience. A production-heavy and cutting-edge live experience will serve as the focal point for Wonderland’s new project. Concertgoers are surely in for the performance of a lifetime as they enter a new dimension guided by Whyte Fang’s raw and minimalistic sound.

Whyte Fang will be making her appearance at Coachella on Friday, April 14th, and Friday, April 21st. This will be her first performance at the festival since Alison Wonderland’s debut at the Sahara Stage in 2018.  Stay tuned for more releases, as this is surely just the beginning of Whyte Fang’s successes.

Having grown up just an earshot from Ultra Miami's venue Bayfront Park, it was next to impossible for me not to fall in love with electronic music. My love for music was evidently strong enough for me to write my college essay on festival culture and continue attending Ultra for 10+ years now. I have always had a knack for writing and the power of words, which I continued cultivating through a Philosophy degree in college. Now a law school graduate, I eventually hope to merge my passions by working in music law. I am an avid traveler and am certainly not afraid to hop on a plane for a music event. My next bucket list festivals to attend are Tomorrowland in Belgium and Sonus in Croatia. Though the list could go on forever, some of my favorite artists include Franky Wah, Mochakk, Kevin de Vries, and Eli Brown.
