SSKWAN Reveals Debut Downtempo SYNERGY Compilation with Impressive Roster of Artists

Innovative record labels SSKWAN and WAKAAN teamed up to release a new downtempo compilation album named SYNERGY on January 12.

The compilation features tracks from several exciting and emerging artists in the scene, including names like Champagne Drip, Canabliss, and Dillard.  Each artist brings a unique style and vision to the table, resulting in a truly diverse and dynamic listening experience.  Furthermore, SYNERGY truly demonstrates the unfettered talent that SSKWAN and WAKAAN have to offer, with a range of styles and influences not found elsewhere.

A brainchild of Liquid Stranger, SSKWAN notoriously produces “mood-altering” sounds and emerging subgenres through its forward-thinking approach to bass music.  Founded in 2019, the label quickly gained notoriety chiefly for pushing the boundaries and limits of electronic music. Artists on the label include Bleep Bloop, Anemone, and Jantsen.

Its brother label WAKAAN exists to help artists find an environment for artists with unconventional sounds and visions. Founded in 2015 by Liquid Stranger, the label has become a go-to destination for fans of bass-heavy music. Artists on the label include Liquid Stranger, Space Jesus, and Peekaboo.

Ultimately, “SYNERGY” brings together the best of both worlds, showcasing the unique sounds and styles of both labels. Firstly, it features a mix of experimental electronic music and bass-heavy tracks, with each track giving listeners an eye-opening experience.  From atmospheric soundscapes and melodic beats to intricate rhythms and sound design, SYNERGY truly encapsulates the beauty of downtempo.

Overall, the SYNERGY compilation release marks an incredibly strong start to the year for the two labels.  With 24 artists and 21 tracks, SYNERGY seamlessly blends mainstay names with newcomers on the bass scene. If this is any indication of what’s in store for 2023, then we’re in for a real treat.

Having grown up just an earshot from Ultra Miami’s venue Bayfront Park, it was next to impossible for me not to fall in love with electronic music. My love for music was evidently strong enough for me to write my college essay on festival culture and continue attending Ultra for 10 years + counting. I have always had a love for writing and the power of words, which I continued cultivating through a Philosophy degree. Though I have long been enamored by the music, I only recently joined the Exron team in November 2022. I am currently entering my last year of law school and hope to merge my personal and professional lives by working in the music industry.
