Proper NYE Earns Spot as a Top NYE Event with 2022 Debut and Announcement for 2023 Return

Following months of anticipation, Proper NYE establishes its place as an elite new event for house and techno fans to attend to ring in the New Year.

Despite weather reports of rain, house and techno admirers packed their ponchos and rain boots to bring in the New Year at CRSSD’s first edition of their New Year’s Event, Proper NYE. Whether you are a bouncy house head or techno lover, Proper NYE offered a remarkable occasion for fans to enjoy. The highly-anticipated event at San Diego’s Petco Park impacted the future of CRSSD Events with its stacked lineup of huge talents. Taking place over two rainy but spectacular days, the sold-out event brought enjoyment to its attendee.

Touching down on ocean-set San Diego, PROPER NYE brought the heat with an end-of-year celebration throughout the grounds of Petco Park and Gallagher Square. Upon arrival at the event, you could feel the excitement of fans all around. From the iconic House x Techno bomber jackets to disco ball accessories, and fuzzy bucket houses, attendees were ready to get bouncing for a stacked Day 1 which took place on New Year’s Eve. On the first day, some huge names were on the lineup for both stages including Mau P, Will Clarke, John Summit, and the two artist ringing in the New Year, Chris Lake and Hot Since 82.

The event kicked off with extraordinary talent from the start. With Mau P making his San Diego debut on the Petco Park. The field was packed early for the rising talented artist, with the crowd singing back his lyrics for his popular track, ‘Drugs from Amsterdam’. As the night rolled in, Wade got the crowd going despite a little rain. Playing a throwback remix of Usher’s ‘Yeah’ into his notable rolling bass had the crowd bouncing. While his latest release, ‘Guddi Riddim’ with DJ Snake, kept the fans grooving. As always, the stellar artist John Summit did what he does best. He brought techno vibes to San Diego with his latest track, ‘Revolution‘. Then kept it going with dark remixes of ‘La Danza’ and ‘Drunk and High’.

Following John Summit, Petco Park got to vibe out to the melodic beats of Lane 8. The set featured classic ‘This Never Happened’ tracks from him. His set truly brought a magical feeling across the crowd featuring hugs and singing in the rain from all. As the clock got closer to midnight, the main stage began to fill up for the headliner Chris Lake. During the hour and a half, Chris Lake reminded fans of why he is the elite artist he is. Playing every song a fan would want to hear, he performed what I would call a nearly perfect set. Including a remix of Fred Again’s latest release ‘Rumble’ and his remix of ‘Laserbeam’, he certainly delivered. His countdown to New Year in the iconic Black Book symbol across the LED Screens combined with fireworks was the cherry on top of a spectacular New Year’s Eve.

The second day was a chilly one for attendees. But, that didn’t spot the event from bringing the crowd in early again. Continuing the momentum from day one, Sunday featured more immensely talented acts in both underground techno and popular house music. Performances from Fisher, Sofi Tukker, Kaskade, and Nore En Pure captivated the audience on the main stage of Petco Park. While Mark Knight, Eli Brown, and Hi-Lo mesmerized techno fans with the sounds of the underground at Gallagher Square. With such a stacked lineup, the decisions for who to see were tough. But, spending the night with the techno crowd at Gallagher Square was a great choice!

Hearing Eli Brown play a personal favorite, ‘Believe’ was a highlight of the night. Continuing on with Hi-Lo playing techno edits for hits by Rihanna and his track ‘Samsara’ made for a memorable night. In combination with techno and rain, there was no better way to celebrate the beginning of 2023! House and Techno fans truly experienced something special this weekend. Proper NYE was undoubtedly a huge success for the CRSSD team. So, of course, we can expect a 2023 return, which was confirmed on their socials following the event.
