Countdown NYE Suffers Extreme Flooding on Day 2 of SoCal Festival
Despite the unforeseen weather and massive flooding in SoCal, Countdown NYE concludes 2022 with a bang to usher in the new year.
Insomniac‘s Countdown NYE had been hit with massive flooding on Day 2 in SoCal. The two-day alien invasion-themed festival for fans of electronic music saw thousands of soaking-wet ravers running across knee-deep water and big puddles.
Many festival goers, most of whom were highly enthusiastic about the event, took to social media to complain about the lack of wet weather contingencies and the need for better communication from the organizers. With the venue heavily inundated with water, the festival experience for many were also drenched with negative emotions. Some fans also expressed their displeasure by urging for refunds for the tickets bought.
Despite the torrid weather, the 2-day event concluded with a bang to usher in 2023 with some much-needed positive energy. Headliner acts like Sullivan King, Slander, Valentino Khan, and Vini Vici soldiered through the torrential rain to take the ravers on a journey through different corners of the dance music canon.
While unforeseen weather circumstances are usually beyond the control of many event organizers, it is encouraging to also see some fans expressing their appreciation to Insomniac for the annual event that explores interactive feats of technology, displays of color and light, and offer the fans a truly memorable experience.
As we welcome 2023 and a myriad of events this year, here’s wishing all festival-goers a positive experience and celebrating the power of EDM. We are all in this together, and music can truly bring people together on the dance floor.
