Tipper Plays One of the Final ‘Banger’ Sets of His Career
We take a look back at esteemed DJ and producer Tipper’s career to commemorate one of the final “banger” sets, according to his management.
Tipper, or Dave Tipper, is a British electronic music producer, composer, and DJ who has been active since the 90s and whose discography spans across various subgenres. His 2004 album entitled ‘Surrounded’ was nominated as Best Album Intended for Surround Sound for the 2nd Annual Surround Music Awards, and some of his tracks have been featured on shows like CSI and Criminal Minds.
As the digital music revolution proceeded in the early 2000s, Tipper took advantage and started to release more music than ever. He even helped to develop a new music genre called glitch pop. In years to come, Tipper would become a common headliner at popular EDM festivals; he even created his own event brand, Tipper & Friends.
Tipper has been dealing with health issues as of lately; he has slowly been playing less and less, but has continued to persist. At the beginning of 2022, Tipper’s team confirmed that he would be limiting his live performances due to his health concerns, only solidifying selective show dates. In the summer, Tipper’s US fans received an email regarding these sudden health concerns.
Also, in 2022, there were rumors of Tipper’s altogether retirement. It is confirmed now, however, that due to undisclosed health issues, the artist will soon be retiring from playing uptempo/heavy sets. His fans commonly refer to these heavy sets as bangers, and his SNOWTA NYE set in Minnesota was one of his last.
Tipper’s management recently shared a post to his fan group on Facebook confirming this: “Sup Err’body.. 2022 was the year of the Curve Ball […] announcing our 2023 plans in a few weeks, but can confidently say this weekend will be one of the few ‘banger’ sets Tipper has left in him.. he’s still figuring out his health, and slowing down the tempo finding balance.. Snowta has F-1 VERO and a great LED Wall design for those of you making it out.. a nostalgic throw down? :).”
While we will miss Tipper’s banger sets, health concerns are common within the EDM touring lifestyle and it is a priority that they are addressed. We send our thoughts to Tipper and can’t wait to see the direction his career takes next!
