Top LGBTQ+ Artists to Watch in 2023
This was quite the year for LGBTQ+ artists within electronic dance music, so let’s recap who to keep your eye on moving into 2023.
The top LGBTQ+ artist has been packing venues and showcasing their talents on stages across the world. 2022 was a remarkable year in celebrating the impact of this community, including the growth in diversity. In fact, the origins of electronic dance music are synonymous with the LGBTQ+ community, creating the ground for this genre of music to derive from.
Accordingly, last year one of the youngest LGBTQ+ artists, Moore Kismet, created a beautiful legacy. The Californian native celebrated their 18th birthday in December 2022. In addition, Kismet released their debut LP, ‘Universe,’ on June 24th in celebration of Pride Month. This non-binary artist is one of the youngest DJs to grace the stage at EDC Las Vegas in 2021.
Grammy-nominated DJ and openly gay music producer, Andrew Bayer, dropped his double album, ‘Duality.‘ Featuring adjoining members of the LGBTQ+ community. Our beloved Queen, Honey Dijon, empowered the transgender community with her sophomore album, ‘Black Girl Magic.’ Giving a voice to others and raising awareness of inclusion.
Wreckno has been dominating, creating an EP, and sharing nine singles alone this year. DJ Mag showcased Wreckno on their October cover with an iconic photo spread. Within the same month, this cover girl played Red Rocks for the first time with the support of Rezz. Then elevated their performance at GRiZMAS in December.
Subsequently, in October, Rezz revealed her fourth studio album, ‘Nightmare on Rezz Street 2 Mix.’ 2022 also marked her being added to the iconic B2B 2023 roster with her mentor deadmau5. Of course, we can’t forget about GRiZ and the impact he continues to have on the industry. However, in December he surprised fans by collaborating with Zeds Dead on their track, “Ecstasy of the Soul.’
Rounding out 2022 with our favorite thruple, Seven Lions, accompanied by his wife Emma, and their girlfriend Courtney. The triple threat spent the holidays together, sharing an image via Instagram in front of the Christmas tree with their dog. Earlier this year, in October Seven Lions, released his debut album, ‘Beyond The Veil.’ 2022 was a spectacular year for the LGBTQ+ community within EDM. Furthermore, we are beyond ecstatic about what’s to come in 2023!
