Justice Celebrates Debut Album with Special 15th Anniversary Edition
It’s been 15 years since Justice released their debut album, and this year they celebrate with an anniversary edition of the record.
Justice pays homage to their first studio album, ‘Cross,’ by dropping a special edition 15 years after its release. In the summer of 2007, Justice shared their opera-disco-composed debut album with the world. That year they were nominated at the MTV Music Video Awards for “Video of the Year” for their single D.A.N.C.E. The following year they played multiple festivals worldwide, leaving their imprint on the music industry.
Fast forward to 2022, marking the 15th anniversary of their iconic first album. The French electronic duo took to Instagram to commemorate their feat. “« † » 15th Anniversary Edition is out now with some demos, outtakes, and rarities,” the caption read. The post was accompanied by a striking Star Wars-like reel of the culmination of the cross as a whole.
Many followers expressed their excitement along with the impact the album left on them. “15 years since this melted my brain,” commented one fan, with another sharing, “This album changed my life ????.” The anniversary album includes a handful of rarities and outtakes, including demos of “The Party,” “Valentine,” and “D.A.N.C.E.” The 18-song album is a little over an hour long out on Ed Banger Records.
Moreover, D.A.N.C.E. was a tribute to Micheal Jackson with references to his hit “P.Y.T.” The album had nearly 400 samples along with micro samples, including from the iconic Italian horror film Tenebrae by Dario Argento. Utilizing a sample from the film’s main theme composed by Simonetti–Pignatelli–Morante, three former members of Goblin, for “Phantom” and “Phantom Pt. II.”
Subsequently, numerous fans have been inquiring about a tour strictly playing, ‘Cross,’ in its entirety. One person commented, “play the album in full on a tour pls.” On December 1st, before the special edition album release, Superstition, an elite nightclub in Austin, Texas posted about a performance of a lifetime.
In fact, this Saturday Justice will be ringing in the new year with a New Year’s Eve DJ Set at Superstition. Since the announcement, the 21+ show has sold out. Luckily for fans, you can add yourself to a waitlist through DICE, to snag a spot if ticket holders are unable to attend. With no other tour dates scheduled as of yet, this will be a perfect way to end the year.
