Female Bass Artists Making Waves In the Scene 2022 Edition

A Hundred Drums, Canabliss, Khiva, VEIL are some of the many phenomenal female bass artists who are pushing the scene forward in 2022.

2022 was a big year for the female bass artists A Hundred Drums, Canabliss, Khiva, VEIL who have been making a big commotion in the scene. These four producers have been making music for many years and this year got to bring their sound to bigger audiences. Each of them puts their individual creative spin on bass music and expands how soundwaves can travel.

From the states to the shores of foreign countries these women have performed at various festivals and intimate shows this year. In addition, many of them have other endeavors that they pursue creatively in congruence with their music. Read on to see what these women have been up to this year and to discover the talent of these great bass artists.

WAKAAN fest 2019

The Los Angeles-based artist A Hundred Drums is both a bass producer and the co-owner of B-Side, an event company based out of LA that throws captivating bass shows in the area. Their last event of the year hosted Ivy Lab as its headliner at the Regent Theatre.

In addition to her entrepreneurial job Watson performed as an opener for DeadRocks and began her headline tour this fall. The music she releases has been featured on Mersiv’s label Morflo as well as on Deadbeats. Her music transcends the listener into an altered state and makes one not want to come off that high.

The following artist is the Toronto-based producer Canabliss who makes the perfect music for anyone that chooses that name as their musical alias. Her first EP ‘Plasma’ was released this year and taps into a more wavey part of bass vibrations. Her EP was released via WAKAAN as her debut on the record label.

This year Canabliss performed as part of Rezz‘ Spiral tour and was an opener for Ganja White Night’s Halloweekend Wobbleween show. She also performed at various festivals including WAKAAN, Illfest, and Electric Zoo. The only release by Canabliss this year was her EP so fans are most excited to see what she releases in 2023.

Khiva is a multi-talented artist who is a songwriter, producer, and rapper who meshes all of these together with some dark bass music. Her latest release was her EP “Phantom Forces” a dark majestic sound that dances in between the lines of the spirit world and our current realm. She remains a current member and music contributor of the Deep, Dark, and Dangerous squad and label run by TRUTH.

This year she toured with Boogie T, and opened up for Zeds Dead during Halloweekend. She also performed a set on a boat on the shores of Croatia and wears some of the coolest fits during her sets. During her live performances, Khiva will take the mic to rap and sign to the audience and kills it every single time.

Last but not least is the Philadelphia-born producer VEIL who is creative both inside and outside the music studio. She released her second EP “Netherworld” also released on WAKAAN which features 4 wonky bass songs including one DNB track. This year she performed at the North Warehouse in Portland, Oregon for their pre-Halloween Haunted Forest show, a most amazing experience for all attendees.

In addition to music, she is also a visual and graphic designer for the visual and media art project 5ive9ine. Additionally, VEIL is the director for the music label Street Ritual with the extraordinary accomplishment of being a part of it for over a decade. This year VEIL got to perform at Cyclops Cope, the Avant Gardner in NYC, and do a sinister guest mix for the Deep Dark and Dangerous fans.

These are 4 out of a multitude of female bass artists that have been contributing to the scene and the music for years. They all tap into an unexplored part of bass and themselves to deliver these most unique musical sounds.
