Illenium Jokes About “Getting Cancelled” Again Ahead of Cancun Ember Shores Event

Playing the wrong track this weekend seemed to be the least of Illenium’s problems at Ember Shores.

Illenium’s curated destination festival, Ember Shores, wraps its final day today but was faced with several obstacles along the way. Starting the weekend off with high hopes, Illenium shared his excitement for the event and joked about reviewing his set list to avoid getting cancelled.

This was alluding to a previous instance where he claimed to unknowingly play a Bassnectar track at a recent show. It was the second time he was in the hot seat this year after tweets of him using racial slurs in 2015 resurfaced on the internet. A public apology was soon issued thereafter.

Ember Shores is a three-day takeover at an all-inclusive resort in Cancun, Mexico. The lineup featured names like CloZee, Dillon Francis, Subtronics, INZO, Crankdat, Trivecta, William Black, and more.

The experience comes with a big price tag when factoring in ticket costs, room selection, and airfare. However, many attendees were met without a room upon arrival waiting as long as midnight before checking in.

The resort was not able to accommodate many of the rooms specifically purchased and had to settle for what was available. Illenium did acknowledge people’s pleas on Twitter stating his team was working to get a room for everyone who purchased one and is offering refunds to those who did not receive their original accommodations.

At the end of one crisis, his team was soon met with another. Due to the unfavorable weather conditions and high winds, Illenium’s beach set was delayed and the stage was completely rebuilt in another location to keep the party going.

Though for the most part people’s frustrations were met with compromise and Illenium’s team worked diligently to mitigate these issues for a successful event. In hindsight, it seems that Illenium mistakenly playing the wrong track might have been the least of his worries this weekend.
