G Jones Releases First Solo EP Project Since 2019

Beloved DJ and producer G Jones delights fans with a three-track EP ‘Illusory Tracks’ on his imprint Illusory Records.

It’s hard to believe it’s been three years since G Jones released a solo EP with his fans. His last EP, ‘Tangential Zones,’ broke the internet as the artist showcased innovative sound design, mesmeric synths, and booming basslines. Now, for his third and most coveted EP yet, ‘Illusory Tracks’ demonstrates the evolution of G Jones’ style–one that’s certainly headed in an exciting direction.

‘Illusory Tracks’ is a 6-track EP featuring new and existing releases as well as a couple of collabs. The lead track on the EP, “Operator,” has become a fan favorite since its release in August of this year. Another familiar song, “R.A.V.E.” with longtime collaborator Eprom, has been out for more than a month now.

Just ahead of the EPs release date, G Jones shared “Say What” alongside ISOox, another collaborator and friend of the artist. G Jones has been rinsing “Say What” in his DJ sets for quite some time now, so the track’s official debut on streaming platforms undoubtedly stirred up anticipation for the full EP.

‘Illusory Tracks’ features three brand new titles as well–”Elysian Hardcore,” “Patterns Emerge,” and “Thought Tracing”–all solo tracks making big entrances. Each of these songs fully embodies G Jones’ diverse and nuanced production capabilities.

It’s safe to assume G Jones fans are on a high after patiently awaiting ‘Illusory Tracks’ since it was first teased a few months back. The artist also recently shared a collaborative mixtape with Eprom, ‘Disk Doctors’ which gained massive support from listeners. The mixtape impressively garnered close to 80k plays on SoundCloud in just one month.

I've been a part of the dance music scene for nearly a decade and with Exron for more than half of that time. My first event was Diplo's Mad Decent but these days you'll find me at Club Space or the Brooklyn Mirage. Some of my top artists are G Jones, Tipper, Of The Trees, and CharlestheFirst. My favorite genres are techno, experimental bass, and ambient but I'll get down to anything with a beat!
