LUZCID Channels Psychedelic Bass Nostalgia in ‘Illusions Pt. 1’ EP

Jen Jacquez — 4 months ago

After working on this project for over a year, ‘Illusions Pt. 1’ has finally dropped from Luzcid, with this reminiscent bass EP.

Luzcid’s newest EP, ‘Illusions Pt. 1′ can now be heard on any of your favorite music streaming platforms. The Texas native released the first portion of the two-part EP, this week on November 15th, on none other than WAKAAN. The bass DJ is excited to share his creation encapsulating a divergence of sound throughout this five-track release.

He unveiled the auditory conception via social media, “Welcome to the New LUZCID. Welcome to ILLUSIONS !,” his post captioned. Above all the album is a reflection of, “the sound that made me originally fall in love with dance music.” Dance music released between 2009-2012 incited his creative genius incorporated in ‘Illusions.”

The first track, “Heartbeat,” ignites the EP, featuring Ahee. Slowly elevating the tempo as the sound of rain is matched by the mesmerizing vocals of Misdom. As you slowly melt into “Goodbye,” a pulsating ballad featuring Crystalline, saturated with melodic nostalgia. Up next, “Hear Me,” amps up the sound with a video game-like soundscape.

The fourth track, “Funk It Up,” strums its way to add to the mix of the assortment of sounds. Elements of the song are reminiscent of Snoop Dogg’s 1993 debut single, ‘Who am I? (What’s my name).’ Subsequently, that song samples from, ‘Atomic Dog.‘ by the funk master himself, George Clinton.

Winding down with, ‘Sun Showers‘ an atmospheric song to close out the illustrious EP. “I think this EP is full of songs that satisfy several different ‘purposes’ for why we listen to music,” said Luzcid. Adding on, “For the Illusions EP I wanted to get back to my roots musically.”  Now that the first half of the two-part EP is out, Luzcid can focus on Illusions EP (Part 2).

Luzcid announced his tour in conjunction with the ‘Illusions Pt. 1″ release, beginning January 26th to April 29th. “I am working with my buddy DATABYTE to bring a special new visual experience that will bring the music from the LUZCID project alive like never before,” noted Luzcid. Tickets are on sale now, with stops in multiple cities across the U.S.
