Lightning in a Bottle Celebrates 20 Years of Festival with Heartfelt Tribute

Congratulations are in order for The Do Lab Team for their beloved festival, Lightning in a Bottle, which will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2023. Tickets for this historic, Memorial Day event will go on sale Thursday, November 17th at 10 AM PST, and the entire creative team is incredibly excited to celebrate.

In a public statement and ticket-drop prerequisite, LIB expressed humility, grace, and excitement. “When we first started Lighting in a Bottle in 2000, we would have never imagined that we’d be here over 2 decades later planning our 20th anniversary. What started as a birthday party for a few friends quickly became a cherished summer gathering, morphed into scrappy 3-day art and music festival, then on to be one of California’s most celebrated underground events, and now a well-respected world-class festival.”

The full statement also addressed feedback from the prior year, LIB’s first year back since the pandemic’s derailment. The statement acknowledged opportunities for improvement regarding production, a promising move on behalf of the production team. For fans who have been attending the festival for a decade or greater, addressing any shortcomings was both professional and strategic.

In the closing of the statement, the creative team continued to reflect on the years of hard work in a heartfelt tribute. “As we reflect on our journey to the present incarnation of LIB, we can’t help but feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude. It’s not every day that people get to follow their dreams and passions and turn them into a long-lasting adventure, especially one that has such a positive impact on the community around it.”

“We’ve seen many festivals and events come and go over the years, and we can’t help but wonder what it is about LIB that has such a lasting power. For this, we are incredibly grateful what an amazing opportunity we have to share these experiences together. We are the fortunate ones.

Although I generally tout my spicy side, if there's one thing I'd love to impress upon the world, it would be this: it's not a waste to give love to those who do not deserve it – it's a gift. The world would be a better place if we gave, in kindness and in mercy, to those who need it most with no expectation in return.
