12th Planet Allegations Resurface After a Twitter User Shares New Information

Amid discussion of sexual assault allegations against Mize and several other DJs, new documents surrounding 12th Planet surface on Twitter.

Toward the close of 2021, an EDM photographer collectively accused 12th Planet and Gammer of sexual assault and Trampa of rape, on separate occasions. Following the allegations, 12th Planet remained silent for nearly two months and faced removal from at least one festival lineup. However, he did finally publicly respond in early 2022 denying the allegations in hopes to move forward:

There was a generally mixed response to the allegations. Many fans ran to the comments section of 12th Planet’s post to express support for him. One person said, “Cant ever take 12th Planet away. Never” while another said, “Hope to see you back on lineups soon.” The artist went on to secure several major bookings for the 2022 festival season, including Forbidden Kingdom, Electric Forest, and EDC Las Vegas.

However, many fans still wanted to see 12th Planet removed from the dance music scene. When Electric Forest announced the artist would be joining them in June, both the festival and artist faced backlash. Also in June, 12th Planet announced that he and fellow dubstep DJ Rusko would be co-headlining the Dubplate Special tour.

Just last week, however, the discourse of sexual assault in the dance music industry increased after a woman accused DJ Mize of sexual assault. A number of other DJs and industry professionals were also publicly accused of assault.

Around this time, an anonymous Twitter account @12thplanettruth shared what appeared to be court documents of a dismissed “Rape-1” charge filed against John Dadzie, aka 12th Planet. According to the documents, the charge was dismissed on 12/31/2008. Some fans questioned the authenticity of the document and others denied its relevance since the case was dismissed.

One user said, “Umm I want to know how this ‘person’ got this [the court documents] considering this is the message you get when trying to access online records for siskiyou county court…” The attached screenshot of the County of Siskiyou’s court site reads, “Due to ongoing cyber attacks, the Case Inquiry website will be unavailable indefinitely.” Exron Music also attempted to access the site and was faced with the same error message.

Another user wrote, “Anyone and I mean ANYONE can file criminal charges against a person at ANYTIME, for ANY reason within the spectrum of criminal action. Just because a charge was filed ABSOLUTELY does not mean a crime was committed.”

Regardless of the doubt shed on the relevance and authenticity of the document, 12th Planet is facing major backlash. Rusko has continued on their Dubplate Special tour alone and fans are calling for the removal of 12th Planet from EDC Orlando.

I've been a part of the dance music scene for nearly a decade and with Exron for more than half of that time. My first event was Diplo's Mad Decent but these days you'll find me at Club Space or the Brooklyn Mirage. Some of my top artists are G Jones, Tipper, Of The Trees, and CharlestheFirst. My favorite genres are techno, experimental bass, and ambient but I'll get down to anything with a beat!
