1001Tracklists Celebrates Female and POC Artists with the ‘Future of Dance’

The future of dance is coming in hot with 1001Tracklists notable recognition of dance music’s female and POC producers.

1001Tracklists has previously received recognition on their Top 101 Producers list and their online platform, featuring various amounts of exclusive electronic radio sets, featuring notable performances by Vintage Culture, John Digweed, MEDUZA, and Above and Beyond. The 1001Tracklists is bringing forth a stepping stone for people of color and females making music in the electronic music industry called the ‘Future of Dance’.

The people behind 1001Tracklists became increasingly concerned with the lack of representation in the rankings of their Top 101 Producers list. The CMO of 1001Tracklists, Jacob Merlin empowered the community by sharing a personal statement on the matter:

1001Tracklists

“The Top 101 Producers were created to showcase the artists whose productions have been supported the most by DJs around the world. It’s a 100% data-driven ranking, and something that is very unique in the music industry. In many cases, the artists in the Top 101 Producers receive recognition beyond what they can get from other rankings or beyond their current perceived standing as an artist, and we take great pride in providing exposure for these artists.

Unfortunately, these rankings have also illuminated an issue that persists across the music industry – there is a lack of support for women and people of color in music. This is true in terms of booking opportunities, fees, label opportunities, and also in terms of the support that they receive from other DJs, and thus reflected in the Top 101 Producers. To shed light on this issue, foster discussion, and spotlight talented artists, we created the Future Of Dance concept last year. Through the Future Of Dance, we’re showcasing 101 women and POC artists who have also been important in defining the sounds of electronic music over the past year and will pave the road ahead.”

The ‘Future of Dance’ will exclusively highlight the top 101 Female and POC artists that have gone above and beyond in the dance music scene over the years. Up-and-coming stars such as Charlotte De Witte, Jamie Jones, Layla Benitez, Nora En Pure, and Wax Motif are featured amongst the ninety-five other producers.

1001Tracklists will also be collaborating with Corite to start ‘The Future of Dance Fund’, a charitable collaboration project that will support and showcase twelve artists from November 2022 to October 2023. The fund will deliver financing, marketing, and other support to underrepresented dance music artists. Further information can be found on www.corite.com/1001.

Yoooo, the homies call me Marz. I am a multidimensional Piscean Latina fairy from Miami-Dade County (no, not Florida). Electronic music has allowed me to appreciate the profound beauty that can be found in finding peace within the chaos. Artists such as Rezz, Skrillex, John Summit, Michael Bibi, and Amtrac blend the two seamlessly, creating a harmonious balance that resonates with me whenever I am on the dancefloor. When I am writing about electronic music, I feel this same balance of peace and chaos moving through me - starting in my hips, filling my heart, and radiating out from my soul. The power of music has brought me to this exact moment, and I only desire that you feel the warmth of the sun through my words.

What's your reaction?

Excellent article..As a mobile dj it baffles me how one week they are bouncing off walls and next you are struggling and you do question if its you!!. The bit on tailoring popular tracks for a birthday is a very key message. Venue is a also a factor. If Its too big withnot enough people thats a problem i have had so would be interested to know what you suggest for that situation as the dancing tends to be fragmented when you have an inapproriate venue for the event. Thanks
