Mize Faces Sexual Abuse Allegations and is Dropped From GRiZ’s Another World Lineup
Several allegations against DJ and producer Mize, including “sexual abuse”, have surfaced across social media. He’s since been removed from at least two EDM events, including GRiZ’s Another World.
Yesterday evening, Twitter user @emdelhoops made a post detailing an encounter she had with Mize, real name Ian Evans, at Sonic Bloom festival in Colorado. According to the user, the incident occurred at an Airbnb after the festival had ended for the night. The details of the encounter according to the user can be read below:
In the post, the woman mentions that she “received an email from his lawyer” along with a “cease and desist to quiet anything I had to say before I had a chance to speak on my experience.” In an earlier tweet, she wrote “Sending a cease and desist to silence women who want to speak their truth about SA before they even go public? Smells like guilt to me (skull emoji).”
Around the same time this user shared their story, two additional allegations surfaced. Another user shared a Reddit post from August 2021 detailing a story of a rape and assault by a DJ that occurred in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Although the Reddit post did not mention Mize or any DJ in particular, some EDM fans have inferred based on several timelines in the story that Mize is the perpetrator. At this time, the alleged victim remains anonymous and has not come forward and confirmed or denied the post was made about Mize. More details can be read below:
Around the same time, another Twitter user said “seeing fucking red rn all of a sudden remembering mize calling me @ 5 am a few years ago and he was crying and telling me he just fucked a 16/17 year old and claimed to not know her age until after and didn’t wanna ruin his life over a mistake.” The user who shared this story also recently alleged to be the victim of a sexual assault perpetrated by Sky Suite and covered up by his label, Mean Mug Music.
Mize has yet to comment publicly to his fans regarding the allegations and subsequent discourse on social media. However, several artists have spoken out in solidarity with the alleged victims. EDM DJ Wreckno tweeted, “Again. A-FUCKING-GAIN. Keep it in your pants, and for god fucking sakes just BE A GOOD PERSON. I am so over this shit.” In the same thread, Buku replied, “honestly it’s so easy too. so disappointed to learn about all this. from someone i guess i trusted too :/ so fucking unfair to all the women in and around this music scene.”
GRiZ has removed Mize from his Another World event set to take place in Broomfield, Colorado on October 29th. Liquid Stranger has also removed Mize from a Wakaan event set to take place in Denver on November 18th. Read both artist’s responses to the allegations below:
