Fans Accuse California and Texas Promoter Wasted Presents of “Exploitation” and “Human Trafficking”
Wasted Presents, the California and Texas-based show promoter has been accused of some extremely serious accusations, including human trafficking according to several sources on social media.
In a lengthy, details, and disturbing Facebook post, one music fan claimed the company was involved in some shady practices. The post reads, “But it’s time for the truth to come out about their [Wasted] human trafficking and drugging woman (women) and having their own room they do it in!!!!” In somewhat of a rant style, the person continues about their “disgust” and ill feelings toward actions taken by the promotion company.
Although the person does not mention Wasted Presents in the original post, a comment helped clear up any confusion: “Fuck it I’ll put them on blast! Wasted productions and entertainment!”
It seems the original story about Waster Presents sparked a slew of allegations as dance music fans and professionals felt compelled to share their own experiences. Another person said, “I left in August 2020 after another person told me about their drugs, s** trafficking, & then owing a lot of money to people.” They also wrote, “i’m so fucking tired of seeing them still up when they’ve done a lot of shit that can send them to prison.”
Another person, presumably a DJ in the EDM scene, told the story of a time the promotion company booked him as direct support for ATLiens and was moved to a 9 PM slot. “After getting a bad ass air bnb, 15+ homies to buy tickets & make a 3+ hour drive I was told I would no longer be Direct support, TWO HOURS BEFORE DOORS,” they said. They went on to explain, in addition, they were forced to perform a b2b set with “a local riddim DJ.” He continued, “those who know me and have seen my sets know I am NOT a riddim DJ.”
Another DJ and producer, NAZAAR said, “this very “company” taunted and threatened me for years… for no reason. My existence seemed to bother them.” Multiple threads on Facebook and Instagram were filled with comments similar to these, as well as comments supporting and defending Wasted Presents.
The promotion company released a response to the allegations, denying everything. They closed the statement by noting that they are working toward creating a solution to make their events “a safer environment for everyone.” See the full statement below and check out replies in the Twitter thread:
