Joshwa Taps into Latin House Vibe with Energetic Single “Papi” on Insomniac Records
Producers Joshwa and Fallon team up to blend Latin and House music for their latest single “Papi” on Insomniac Records.
Setting aside a turbulent history, England and Ireland have joined forces in one of the strongest collaborations of the year to prove yet again that music heals all wounds. London-based producer Joshwa is back with his sophomore release “Papi” on Insomniac Records, this time with a little help from Irish beat merchant Fallon.
“Papi” explores the rich sounds of Latin music within a pulsating electronic framework. This knockout single features everything from Spanish guitar licks to a dominating trumpet lead that elevates the song into another dimension. After the Great British Bakeoff’s nearsighted take on Mexican culture that recently left viewers in a state of second-hand embarrassment, these two producers are here to restore the balance with a tasteful approach to Latin culture and its many auditory flavors.
Regarding the new single, Joshwa said the following: “‘Papi’ has been one of my favorite records to drop in my sets over the past few months. It creates a real moment on the dancefloor with its infectious groove and Latin-infused hook. It’s been sick to watch it tearing up some of the biggest dancefloors across the world already, getting early spins at the likes of Creamfields and Hï Ibiza with support from Fisher, Solardo, Wade, and more. I’m super happy Fallon and I can finally release this bad boy!”
Fallon also shared his thoughts on the collaboration: “I’m delighted to have finally gotten together with Josh to work on ‘Papi.’ We’ve known each other for a while and have tried to sort collabs in the past but this one just came together so seamlessly and effortlessly, from creation to release. We had a lot of fun making the track and hopefully, that translates itself into the music.”
Joshwa recently debuted on Insomniac Records this summer. His opening single, “Kerching,” featured three-piece outfit Jaded and singer-songwriter Eliza Legzdina, and was met with widespread praise. Fallon, on the same wavelength, also released a highly successful single, “Take Me Back,” via Insomniac’s house-centric offshoot IN / ROTATION earlier in the year. Things are certainly looking up for the two!
