Exron Premiere: FREAKY – “THE COME UP”

Ahead of Welcome Records’ latest spooky compilation release for Halloween, Exron Music Premieres FREAKY’s new single, “THE COME UP”.

Based in North Carolina, DJ producer FREAKY, real name Alex Fricke, is an artist in every sense of the word. Throughout the years, his infectious blend of hardstyle, funk, and heavy energy discography has seen him secure performances at prominent festivals like Lost Lands, and Imagine Music Festival and serve up captivating releases on major imprints like Dim Mak, Emengy, and Excision‘s label Subsidia.

This time, he released his latest single “THE COME UP” as part of Welcome Record’s fourth edition of the spooky multi-genre ‘Little Comp of Horrors’. Speaking about the inspiration behind the track, FREAKY reflected on his experience during the pandemic that nudged the idea forward. “THE COME UP was written, along the journey of finding my signature sound. It was literally the first song. I wrote back in 2020 while on lockdown from COVID. I titled the song “THE COME UP”, because of the subtle vocal fills in the drops, and also as a way of motivating myself as an artist. It’s a reminder that the new FREAKY journey has begun!” he shared.

With heavy thumping kick drums and droning metallic percussions, “THE COME UP” amplifies the energy all around to instantly attract the listeners with cascading synth loops. FREAKY takes his time pulling the listeners further in with layered hypnotic rhythms, before dropping into a long head-banging break. From the start to the end of the track, the glitchy pulses continue to create an enticing atmosphere all on their own. 

On top of his being a masterclass in his music productions, FREAKY also aims to be a positive advocate for the fans and emerging artists in the music scene. With his motto being “the best experience is experience”, the DJ embodies a healthy lifestyle and wants to inspire the community to chase their dreams. He deeply values the ethos of staying present, being grateful, and always looking at life through the lens of a half-full glass.

As part of this latest compilation from DJ Kayzo’s own label imprint, ‘Comp of Horrors’ will offer 13 spellbinding tracks to mark the upcoming Halloween celebrations. From killers beats to hypnotic dance-infused sounds, the record will feature a broad range of rising and established artists across the electronic music scene. Artists like High Zombie, TYPHON, BVLVNCE, Josh Rubin, Qoiet and BADVOID will showcase their outstanding horror-inspired track, each telling a unique story along with a collection of their individual favorite Halloween element. 

As one of the most celebrated occasions around the world, Halloween is a popular festival for costume parties, igniting bonfires and keeping the spirit up. Kayzo is a big fan of the the holiday and hope to share the joy with the listeners. He shared, “Comp of Horrors is a celebration of new talent during my favorite time of year, Halloween. I really just like getting spooky and wanted something to show for that with Welcome. Every year, the comp gets better and the talent gets stronger.”
