Fans Convinced Bassnectar Drops New Mixtape with Never-Before-Heard Music Before Deleting
Leaked mixtape surfaces on Reddit and supporters are sure it’s new music from Bassnectar.
Anytime there is even a word about new music from Lorin Ashton, it shows that the Bassnectar following still has a pulse. Despite the multiple women who’ve come forward with sexual assault allegations and the ongoing trial case against him, social media seems to buzz at any whiff of his return.

A mixtape was recently leaked on Reddit and has since been deleted and reuploaded by other followers. It is speculated that it could have been Lorin who originally uploaded it knowing fans would download it and reshare themselves to avoid any legal issues with his ongoing trials.
In the comment threads, fans were mostly in unanimous agreement that the style was undeniably Bassnectar. One person mentions, “I just saw someone said it was intended to be the third lockdown mixtape,” while another replies, “Either way. That noise at 14 minutes is a dead giveaway that it’s him.”

In the mixtape there is a track that says, “Fame means nothing to me, their names mean nothing to me,” almost as a clap back to his current situation with his music career. The real question is can we separate the art from the artist, especially considering the severity of his accusations including sexual assault, grooming of minors, and human trafficking?
It appears that no matter his actions there is still a strong following for Bassnectar but will time and the ever-changing landscape of newer bass artists make phase him out of the game? It’s hard to say when there are still many loyal supporters waiting for new music.
In another Reddit thread, someone claimed to have spoken to his manager where he disclosed that Bassnectar’s return will follow a lengthy PR campaign if found not guilty in his trial. In addition, all shows will operate as private events.
Lorin’s court case is entering the discovery phase which is the process of obtaining information like documents and dispositions. If the case makes it to trial, it won’t happen until September of 2023.
