Subtronics Plays Mainstage Electric Zoo 10 Years After Attending His First Festival There

Dubstep DJ Subtronics had a full-circle moment at Electric Zoo 3.0 this Labor Day weekend

In recent years, dubstep DJ and producer Subtronics has risen to fame thanks to his insane mixing skills and outstanding production capabilities. He’s been a long-time staple in the dubstep community. However, more recently he broke out into the mainstream dance music space, singlehandedly bridging the gap between modern dance music and dubstep. 

Subtronics has been enjoying some serious festival bookings this year, recently closing out Bass Canyon’s mainstage, playing EDC Vegas, Hard Summer, and his own headlining show at Red Rocks called Cyclops Rocks. He was even brought on by deadmau5 and Kaskade at EDC for an official remix of their Kx5 track, “Escape.”

To add to the surreal moments, Subtronics played the mainstage (Antheon) at Electric Zoo this past weekend. In a heartfelt Instagram post, he noted that Electric Zoo was actually the very first festival he attended as a fan exactly ten years ago. It’s incredible and inspiring to see how much an artist can accomplish in ten years through hard work and talent. 

Subtronics’ Instagram caption reads, “Ten years ago i went to my first ever EDM festival called Electric Zoo.” He went on, “last night I played f*cking mainstage into the sunset.” The artist closed out the post by saying, “IM CRYING TEARS OF JOY PLEASE PLEASE FOLLOW UR DREAMS AND DONT EVER GIVE UP.” He also shared a post showing the ten year transition, from 2012 as an attendee to 2022 on stage.

He received tons of support in the comments from fans and fellow producers. Hekler, Dani Thorne (Com3t), Black Carl!, and Samplifire are among some of the artists who offered kind words in the replies below.

In the spirit of exciting news, Subtronics recently got engaged to his longtime girlfriend and fellow producer, Level Up during a trip to Europe. He’s currently preparing to play Lost Lands a.k.a. the dubstep super bowl in just a couple of weeks. We anticipate much more success in Subtronics’ future!
