Nicole Moudaber Returned to Lebanon for Special Charity Show to Continue Support for Disaster Relief
DJ Nicole Moudaber continues fundraising efforts in Beirut, Lebanon two years after the catastrophic explosion that rattled the city.
British-Lebanese DJ, producer, and acclaimed radio presenter Nicole Moudaber recently returned to her community and her roots, gifting the civilians of Beirut, Lebanon with a much-needed night of music and festivity during a time of profound strife.
On August 4th 2020, an overabundance of ammonium nitrate catalyzed a massive explosion at the Port of Beirut. As the capital city of Lebanon, the devastation was unimaginable. The explosion caused at least 218 deaths, 7,000 injuries, billions of dollars worth of collateral damage to private and public property, and the uprooting of more than 300,000 people from their now dilapidated or destroyed homes.
Truly embodying love for her city, Nicole did not charge cover for her performance on August 27th. Her set took place on the previously demolished decks of AHM Club, a venue that overlooks Beirut’s beautiful, poignant waterfront. Nicole teamed up with Factory People to ensure that a portion of the profits were donated to the Agonista Café so that the organization may continue their important work in Lebanon.
Nicole took to social media to share details regarding her forthcoming performance. “Back to my homeland Beirut tonight to play at AHM Nightclub and continue our fundraising efforts to help the people affected by the explosion,” proclaimed Nicole. She furthered her statement with, “I’m taking over the decks of the previously demolished venue on Beirut’s waterfront to help breathe life back into the shattered nightlife community. I will play until sunrise… please come down and support.”
As an important figure in Beirut’s electronic music scene, Nicole was insistent upon bringing the 90’s grime scene from the UK back to her home. Nicole was also responsible for bringing a wide range of DJs into the country’s capital for their debut performances, championing the city’s club scene. Her effects on nightlife in Lebanon can still be felt to this day.
